Just a note…Elder Daniels has been on the island one year this week. (He had been in the MTC for 11+ weeks). He has been in two areas, Sanchong and Tucheng, which you can find on Google Earth. Who knows if he will move this upcoming transfer on April 13th?
OH BOY, things have been busy, EXTREMELY busy. Last week we called a lot of people from English class, and this week we've been meeting with the ones that set up and don't stand us up! :) We've also been busy because every night we make a vision of what is going to happen the next day. We even plan the miracles that we are going to see! We also focused on being bold with inviting people to be baptized and last week we invited Phillip, Yan Didi, and Jack. They will all ask Heavenly Father in their prayers if setting a goal for baptism is what they need to do or not. We also gave a couple investigators to the sisters due to convenience.
We've been blessed a lot, and the best bit if news is that Brother Fan is still flying! He wants to be baptized so bad. The next step is setting up his interview for this weekend, since last week we have had three lessons with him, and they have all been in the homes of ward families! Man oh man, I love this ward. We have ALL of our lessons in families’ homes now. It was announced in Sacrament meeting that all the members need to clean their homes so that the Spirit can reside. That might mean there can be EVEN MORE places for us to take our investigators and hold family nights. We've already had 11 family nights in 11 different homes with Brother Fan and various other investigators, ha. Now that is member missionary unity. It is IMPOSSIBLE for Brother Fan to go inactive, besides, he is too excited to go on a mission. He LOVES the Book of Mormon. He is an artist and he draws pictures of Book of Mormon prophets! What a blessing.
Ryan and I have been keeping in touch. He's been worthy and going to church EVERY Sunday over there in New Zealand. He really enjoys it which brings a lot of solace to my heart because a couple times right before he was baptized, he gave a strong impression to me that he might just go inactive and give up on traveling all the way to a church located 30 minutes from his apartment in New Zealand. However, he's made some friends and they take him to church every week by car!
I love this church. Ryan has had a couple of experiences to share the gospel with his friends over there as well. His English is really funny because he learned a lot of his English from the English Book of Mormon that he would read along with his Chinese Book of Mormon. I think that is really similar to how my Chinese sounded for the first little while. I love that book, you should read it...
I love the Bible. I've been reading it a lot this transfer because this transfer my studies have been completely focused on Christ and the atonement. The Bible has a lot of good material pertaining to these subjects. haha.
The Traveling Assistants came over and went on exchanges with us this past week and I learned a lot, mostly about the importance of the planner. It is just like the Liahona when used right (with faith) and can become a WONDERFUL instrument in a missionary’s hand. Oh baby, that’s so true. I learned a lot about planning from those two elders, Elder Evans and Elder Payne. They are an interesting pair. Elder Payne fits his name, he is a machine. He did 25,000 pushups last transfer. I asked him, “Why would you do that?” He said, “Goals.” He sets goals for everything and he gets a lot done. He was at the Air Force Academy before he came out on the mission so he is a very sharp kid. His companion Elder Evans is tall, a little more quiet, a great listener, and very humble.
I learned a lot from both elders and I fell in love with how they do missionary work, so I changed a lot of things and we've seen a lot of miracles because of it. It’s nice to have a senior companion to mimic every now and then. These elders were exactly that, and that is their purpose. They are two very old missionaries, (they are about to die - go home). They have an apartment but they have stayed in it once. They travel around the mission visiting as many companionship as possible, and they teach through example how to be better missionaries and instruments in the Lord’s hands. They take sleeping bags, bikes, a change of clothes, and running shoes. They are Amazing!! They are amazing because they remember their purpose in EVERY decision they make, and they do it faithfully and in the name of Jesus Christ!
This morning was interesting. We went to clean out the elders apartment that just moved and oh boy, that was a task. I've never seen so many cockroaches come out of one cabinet, whew. The Shulin elders were with us so it was really fun!!!
Oh man. I just deleted the second half to this letter. ZAO GAO!!!!! (that means messy cake). It was interesting too. Basically, president’s interviews went well.
I live in a very interesting world where everyone is and speaks Chinese. The time is going too fast and I don't know what to do to slow it down, so some tips would be useful. I have bad English, but I will relearn it in college. I love the Taiwanese and Philippinos. My companion is progressing a lot. He will be a "smart" missionary. I am addicted to rice. The senior couple here has the same carpet that we have back home, and so do President and Sister Nielson.
Elder Z’s bike got stolen, it was really expensive, he doesn't have very much money, so I'm sending him my bike and taking Elder Gilbert’s old one. We found Elder BARTON’S bike and took pictures!! I love you. ELDER DANIELS!!!

Almost missed getting a letter...
Carol Anne says, Dad and I returned from Arizona on Monday night, which threw me off on what day of the week it was. So, Tuesday night we were at the computer with our friends the Skousens’. Gale is retiring from the Air Force and has accepted a job as a Family Practice Doctor at a clinic next to the hospital in Payson, so they were showing us houses they are interested in featured online. Suddenly, I realized it was 8:30, the time we usually hear from Jonathan and I had not written his letter! I hurried to my computer and sure enough, there was one line from The Boy that said:
“Hello? Emails anyone??”
Hoping he was still at a computer, I quickly sent a message telling him that I was sorry I goofed and what was going on. He replied:
“Hello, Skousebow's!!!! When Clayton goes on a mission, don't forget to write to him, hahaha, just kidding, Mom!”
I wrote a longer message and Gale added a few lines, too. I told Jonathan how much we enjoyed his letters and how we looked forward to them. I was so happy that he was able to write the following letter and that we didn’t get to miss out because he’d had a difficult week:
Thank you. I enjoy writing them. It gives me an opportunity to reflect on some of the things that have happened on a weekly basis. I will now continue to write my large email.
Well....it sure is good to hear from the family. We had to switch the place we were emailing at because some guy (probably married) came in sat next to me and started looking at terrible stuff, so we left immediately...yuck.
That’s the sad thing about Taiwan. There is a lot of bad influence everywhere and it’s considered common and acceptable. We were teaching a family last week who allowed their kids to look at stupid things because they considered it natural and beautiful. SO DUMB! As you can see the flesh is so WEAK, and the world is bound with in it, the gospel is the ONLY WAY OUT!!! Read your scriptures!
Ha, moving on. A lot has gone on this past week. It started out difficult but it’s gotten progressively better. Last week was difficult for a day, because my best Taiwanese friend, Elder Z. went home early from his mission. I don't know why, but that on top of some other news and then being rejected by Sister Yan's husband on a rainy night, was like a big punch in the stomach. President Nielson, under direction of the Spirit, called me that night and asked if he could go on exchanges with me. That was cancelled in the end because he had stuff to take care of, but I got over everything fast anyway. Elder Gilbert came over on exchanges and we had a long, long talk way into the night on our beds about life, the challenges we meet, our families, our investigators, the power of our calling, etc. It was awesome! Elder Gilbert is a very good friend of mine.
Being on a mission is a very special time because it gives you the opportunity to focus solely on the Gospel, the thing that everybody needs to focus on but has no time because of worldly reasons and influences. Heavenly Father allows us to learn a lot in this time through our conversations with our companions who are passing through the two year journey with us. So the conversations we have on our mission are the most important, because, as we are in line with the standards of the gospel. It makes mapping out the rest of our lives a lot simpler. Decisions are easier to make when influenced by a recognized spiritual revelation. Basically, the mission has blessed me to learn how to have mature, spiritually lead conversations with a companion, something that will come in great use in the future.
So, anyway, things have gotten progressively better. We were able to help the sisters add a new investigator into their baptismal pool. This lady was difficult because she had claimed to be baptized before into another church, but thankfully the Spirit was able to help us teach the authority portion of the gospel very clearly, and also lead us to commit her to baptism on the 4th of April...SO GOOD!!
Because Elder Z went home, his companion moved over to be a threesome with the Shulin elders. We took over their area but that’s okay, just means more people to teach! A teaching missionary is a happy missionary.
Life is great! Have there been trials? Yes, but that’s all part of the game. We've got some incredible investigators at the moment. Our Lan family and 3 other investigators all came to the Gao family's baptismal service which was AMAZING! The Gao family's husband came to the baptismal service and church for the first time! We plan to get him on the move here as well. They are now our investigators because the other elders moved.
Continuing, our most progressing investigator at the time is Fan Dixiong, Brother Fan. He is SO prepared!!! When asked to answer questions in church, he likes to quote scripture that he particularly enjoys. He's willing to keep the commandments which includes giving up coffee and work on Sundays. He says his testimony comes through the witness of the Holy Ghost. He has a HUGE desire to learn more about Jesus Christ’s Atonement, and he has a great testimony about faith and hope. He attributes his happiness and change to the Book of Mormon. Last and not least, he is also rather interested in going on a mission. He has only been an investigator for 3 weeks, but he has put some serious thought to serving a mission! Everyone at church tells him he is prepared for baptism, and it makes him excited. This is the most golden person I have ever met! We found him one day eating dumplings at a dumpling store.
As you can see, Heavenly Father has blessed me a lot on my mission. I've realized that the reason we've seen so much success recently was because, just before Ryan’s baptism, I learned how to give in and do the work the Lord’s way.

Huge English class!
Wow…there is so much to report and being an elder who types at a rate of 17 words per minutes, with terrible English to boot, and only having 40 minutes of time to work with, we are in for a long and bumpy road to the lands of "Morrisville," so please bear with me. At least I don't have to carve it onto brass plates. :)
So, we'll start with the events that happened before last Wednesday. The next time you look in Webster’s dictionary, check to see if the following paragraph is listed as the definition to the word "INSANITY." A record SMASHING amount of 111 people came to English class last Wednesday, it was absolutely insane! There were 45 students in my primary class. (I think he means the beginner’s class). They are all under the age of 11, and then some of my students have parents that came along with them. Originally when I first got to Tucheng, there were 5 students that came to English class regularly, and it’s grown in number since then. We had 15 NEW students in my class last week, and we all met in a classroom that was built for a maximum of 15 students. There is no work book, no curriculum, so the lesson is based off of what Elder Daniels can think to do that day to grab the students attention and learn English at the same time.
I love teaching the primary class, it is so much fun. All of the kids love it too. As for their progression in the English language, well, that’s another story, but we sure get a lot of investigators out of it! By the way, only 5 of the 111 people that came were members, the rest are all people preparing to become investigators. :) THAT IS A LOT!!!!!!
Haha, well moving on, the next bit of information is a little bit more on the "oh man" side of the spectrum. Last Thursday as we were meeting with an AWESOME PERSON who is now our top investigator, I got a phone call during the lesson, and it was Sister Yan. She said that there was no way that she was going to be able to be baptized during the weekend, because her husband decided to make a move and stand in the way and become an obstacle to her baptism. Her husband doesn't want her to be baptized.
My first instinct was shock, then confusion, and then patience. I decided this time to be patient. Sister Yan really wants to be baptized so I know that the Lord will allow it to happen. I feel like this is a trial that she needs to face to build her faith, so yes, her baptismal service was cancelled. Right now we are doing our best to try and support her and get the bishop in their home to help us clear things up with the husband. But she will be good and the Lord will take care of her.
Friday we got a family. They have VERY strong Buddhist concepts, but they at the moment have no problem allowing their kids come to church and even be baptized, so that brings a bright future for this family.
Okay, now we put all the reports on pause and I’ll tell you the information that you have been waiting for. I will start off by saying…I AM STAYING IN SANXIA!!!!!!! You don't realize how happy this makes me. I would say it now if it doesn’t sound weird, but is sounds better if I say it like this to describe this sacred land…20 years down the road I will say, “Sanxia is the place that I became a man! I’ve grown up!” I love this ward. I love these people. I am so glad that Heavenly Father is allowing me to continue the work here.
Now, for the rest of the information. I have a new companion named Elder Teshima. His great grandfather is from Japan. He is AWESOME! He looks just like superman and Adam, ha ha. We are gonna get along great together.
I should also mention that he has been on the island for 4 days. How about that??
President called me on Thursday night, which was quite unexpected. I had finished telling him all the events of the night, and then the words, “Elder Daniels, I would like to call you to be a trainer."
My English isn't good enough to describe my expression. Maybe the words "holy moly" can capture the moment. Time is gone, I must go. I am VERY excited!!!!!

Missionary is maturing :)
I love you. It was quite interesting to see the picture of the family playing the wii, haha, I was quite tickled. This week was great. At the moment I am drawing a blank on a lot of the activity that went on. In the mean time I can briefly introduce something that my #2 companion shared with me this past week. It has to do with figuring out what type of personality you are and it is based off a 4 color system. The four colors are white, blue, red and yellow. This system is really interesting because it allows us to figure out our own personal attributes and weaknesses. It is VERY, VERY SUPRISINGLY accurate. (It was done by a member of the church). There is a test that you take and it tells you what color you are, and then from there, it tells you what type of things you need to do to get along with all the different colors of people around you. As soon as you depict what type of person you are you can also use the same system to depict what color your companion is, and then if you apply the recommendations, it turns out being quite effective. This system works! I am kind of different. I am half blue and half yellow, according to the result of my test and my companion is red. So the test described the situation and relationship between the two of us.... PERFECTLY!!!! Elder Read and I have a lot of confrontations for some reason but luckily we keep them light because we love each other so much, that in the midst of our confrontation, we realize that we both like the accompaniment of the Spirit, so we take a more sophisticated manner into resolving our concerns. I have to choose my words extremely carefully when speaking with Elder read, because he is a red... hahaha. He is sensitive and he desires power, which is a good thing, but he is also very introverted, so it’s very easy to get the wrong point of view when communicating. The point is, I'm learning how to choose my words very carefully.
We've seen quite a few blessings. I've also been learning that occasionally, Elder Daniels can be kind of hard to get along with, hahaha. I think everybody is naturally inclined to think that about themselves at times, but I think I have reason to justify the phrase. I am too hard on my companion Elder Read (I give a lot of invites) and I've been stiff. Everybody favors their own opinion, and sometimes to the point of confrontation. Everybody wants their voice to be heard, to the point of becoming unappreciative of a lot of the things our Heavenly Father has given us. But, I've changed, and I have learned to listen and give more heartfelt invites. I say more prayers of thanks than anything else now...meekness, thankfulness, listening (important things to remember for Elder Daniels).
This has affected me in the work itself.... and the way I give invites.
Elder Read is my best friend, and we have a very interesting relationship. I always have looked forward to getting married when I get home, but now I understand how hard it will be, especially when she is a girl and she is 2 times as sensitive, hahahaha, oh boy…
This is why we are given the ability to pray to a God that loves us. :)
ANYWAY!!! I LOVE MY AREA because our member work has been exploding recently! The thing we are focusing on at the moment is progressing investigators. We have a few and they are awesome, but in correlation with our other numbers, progressing investigators has been the knife in our backs.
Sister Yan is all set for baptism! She wants us to help her family. We have come along way with her. Teaching Yan Jiemei has allowed me to learn how to teach more simply, effectively, and patiently... patience on the Lord. :)
I love this work. Not only am I helping other people, but I'm also finding out how much I myself need help. Constantly. And it’s FUN!!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE SCRIPTURES! OH MAN, THEY ARE SWEET AND AWESOME, and it’s nice to have a big set and to start fresh. I also love Dad's resource materials. DAD you are amazing! When I join the Air Force, I will get up like you and read in the mornings. I now realize how much patience you had with me before my mission, sheesh. I made a covenant with Elder Read (who would like a resource book of his own by the way, with everything that you can send) that when I am in the Air Force, that I will get up at 5:00 to 5:30 for the rest of my life to devote some time to my favorite things, the scriptures. I’LL BE THE FIRST TO SAY THAT I WISH THERE WAS MORE SCRIPTURE STUDY TIME IN THE MISSIONARY DAILY SCHEDULE. It kills me...sometimes I wish I went English speaking so I could spend all the language study time on the scriptures. So yeah, actually Dad, everybody in my district would like a resource book as well.

ANYWAY!!! I LOVE MY AREA because our member work has been exploding recently! The thing we are focusing on at the moment is progressing investigators. We have a few and they are awesome, but in correlation with our other numbers, progressing investigators has been the knife in our backs.
Sister Yan is all set for baptism! She wants us to help her family. We have come along way with her. Teaching Yan Jiemei has allowed me to learn how to teach more simply, effectively, and patiently... patience on the Lord. :)
I love this work. Not only am I helping other people, but I'm also finding out how much I myself need help. Constantly. And it’s FUN!!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE SCRIPTURES! OH MAN, THEY ARE SWEET AND AWESOME, and it’s nice to have a big set and to start fresh. I also love Dad's resource materials. DAD you are amazing! When I join the Air Force, I will get up like you and read in the mornings. I now realize how much patience you had with me before my mission, sheesh. I made a covenant with Elder Read (who would like a resource book of his own by the way, with everything that you can send) that when I am in the Air Force, that I will get up at 5:00 to 5:30 for the rest of my life to devote some time to my favorite things, the scriptures. I’LL BE THE FIRST TO SAY THAT I WISH THERE WAS MORE SCRIPTURE STUDY TIME IN THE MISSIONARY DAILY SCHEDULE. It kills me...sometimes I wish I went English speaking so I could spend all the language study time on the scriptures. So yeah, actually Dad, everybody in my district would like a resource book as well.

Life is so Good!
LIFE IS SO GOOD! Yesterday, Sister Yan passed her baptismal interview with flying colors. She had a special interview with President Zeng of the mission presidency, who is also the chief engineer of the ultra famous Taipei speed rail! He is a genius and besides the president, probably one of the most famous people in Taiwan. He is one of them Mormons, too, and that’s the greatest part! Anyway, when the door opened, we were all anxiously waiting, and then the words, “Congratulations,” left the man’s lips! We were ecstatic. I remember that we almost gave them up to the other elders because her Chinese is really bad, and we thought Elder Zeng could speak Taiwanese with her and maybe it would have been the best thing for her situation. But I really didn't want to let that happen. We worked hard and we got 2 members at EVERY lesson to help us communicate with her, and Heavenly Father blessed us a lot to understand some of the Taiwanese that she would speak. (Taiwanese is a language completely different from Chinese). What a miracle!!!!! We were so ecstatic after the interview that we told her in order to celebrate we were going to go and play badminton, one of Taiwan’s favorite sports. :) Fifty-two-year old Sister Yan is a quite the badminton player!!!! I was so impressed because everything we hit into her radius, she returned back with fire! Ha ha, it was awesome. She is such a cute lady. I love her and she REALLY wants her family to be baptized. Wow, I cannot begin to tell the things that Heavenly Father allowed me to learn through teaching her.
I have 2 companions. Elder Gilbert’s companion was really depressed and went back home honorably. We’re happy for him, yet very sad that he couldn't finish the mission, but he did what Heavenly Father planned for him to do, so we were happy. So, we've been a threesome for 5 days now, and I will be the first one to tell you, it’s difficult. But, it’s also really awesome!!!! By the way, we cover three areas now so we have been quite busy. Last week we went back to Shulin, Elder Gilbert’s area, and I had the opportunity to go on exchanges with a ward priesthood member who was a missionary in Gaoxiong. While the other elders went back to Elder Gilbert’s apartment to get some things prepared for him to move, ward member Brother Lu and I got the chance to go and teach a family named Jian. They had a beautiful home, and 2 mei mei's. They were your picture perfect family, they each had a Book of Mormon, and they were all sitting around a table listening intently. It was a beautiful site, and after the lesson, they committed to pray to know the truth, come to Church and be baptized!!!!
It was insane and as long as Elder Gilbert is still my companion, I get to continue teaching this family, although they live in Shulin!
It’s interesting with three elders, hahaha, but it sure is fun, especially when we can manage to take care of time which is so precious. It’s also made the hole in our wall really big, hahahaha, but Brother Beauvie can fix anything so not to worry.
We had 80 people come to English class, and a record 41 came to my primary class. We taught the Restoration as a spiritual lesson. We helped a family move some stuff, we got our microwave fixed, and we went and did a temple tour with an investigator, then took him to eat American food at the senior couple Beauvie's house. THAT WAS AMAZING. The investigator lived in America for 40 years so his English was better then mine. He had so many questions about the church, and the atmosphere of the Beauvie’s house was amazing. The American food they cooked was impossible to describe. The three of us sang and it sounded like angels in their home. He wants to meet with the Taipei elders because that’s where he lives. He shows interest in baptism, he was agnostic before he met the church. The Beauvei's are remarkable people. We discussed everything about the church from having many wives to the creation of the world. Haha.
I also had the opportunity to baptize the Sister’s investigator who is now an AWESOME MEMBER!!!!! She has had a terrible life and gets beaten by her father, but she said this church has allowed her to meet her REAL father. :)

Miracles, miracles, and more miracles!
Dear Family,
Here is Elder Daniels’ letter for February 10, 2009. I am so emotional after reading his words. My heart is so full of gratitude. He is experiencing some wonderful personal changes and seeing miracles all around. I usually do some editing of his letters, but today I will just clean up the punctuation and leave the letter in his poor English so you can get a feel for a missionary using two languages.

Well, let me just get it across. You know how every missionary has some sort of spark or change of heart in the midst of their mission? Mine has just finished changing and we've been seeing the blessings recently. Every morning I as I wake up and say my morning prayer, I start wondering what sort of miracle Heavenly Father is going to allow me and my companion Elder Read to see, because recently the miracles have been coming one right after the other. We attribute it to the fact that we have learned how to give up our own carnal man, let the Lord win, and have immortal faith rather then the opposing faith of the natural man.
As I sit here and write emails home every week, I gain a strong compassion for scripture, hahaha. Think about those people that wrote the scriptures for a second. Who were they? They were prophets under revelation, writing the things that brought peace and happiness to their soul. SO, what was the reason for their writings? The reason for their writings was to allow their descendants know what things brought them the most peace and happiness in their life. The experiences they write were absolutely amazing, the most of them. Now, what is the problem that they had to overcome? The problem is that they had to CARVE all of their experiences down on metal plates. This really limited their ability to express all of the things that they had experienced. (I feel the same way as I am writing this Email) The sad thing is, sometimes we feel like the scriptures are boring. OH MAN! Please don't let the boringness of my text misrepresent the remarkable changes that have encountered me in my recent life, hahaha!
My English really has become quite rotten...hahaha, oh well, it’s very a greater cause at the moment.
These last couple of days have been amazing. This last week we had 9 pei ke's! That is a record for Elder Daniels, for sure. I sure have gotten a grasp of this work and how to better do the work through the members. All of the recent miracles that Heavenly Father has allowed me to see can be attributed to Preach My Gospel and the use of member work.
All of our recent miracles have been small yet so, so, so, so, HUGE, because they have laid down the path to more, and far greater miracles! I take this time to pen my favorite miracle of the week...
The story started one month ago. Before Ryan was baptized, he was scared and quite worried about the whole thought of going against his parents will and being baptized into a church that he still didn't know very much about. I distinctly remember promising Ryan this blessing. Thus, the words I said to him were as follows. "After you are baptized and you change your actions and you are filled with the light that the members of this gospel enjoy, your parents will be so impressed with your change in countenance that they will not only support you in your decision to be baptized, but they in the future will also have a desire to learn the message that we are sharing with you." I remember how these words and promised blessing comforted him that day. And, I know that the experience Heavenly Father allowed us to come across yesterday is a confirmation of the affirmation that we gave him that day. Yesterday, at a red light, we ran into Ryan’s mother. We said hello to her really cheerfully, but I was half afraid to do any more then that because I was still apprehensive about her and the feelings she had towards us missionaries. She told us to pull over. She wanted to talk to us. She asked us if we still plan to keep in contact with Ryan. We said, “YES, he is our friend.” She said "good" because he loves you, and she started crying. She said, "And I love you as well." She said that she could not explain the change that had occurred in her son’s life in the past few months. She said he used to be so shy, he used to not like to talk to other people, and he was such an inward person. Then she said, "You changed him, thank you. You are welcome to come to my house anytime. I'm more than willing to support my son in your church. I actually exhorted him to get in touch with the Church in New Zealand (where he is attending school) because I know it will be good for him. I made him buy a bicycle so that he could ride it to Church on Sundays because he lives 40 minutes away from the church on foot and a bicycle will make things a lot easier."
Things came to pass. The promise we gave to Ryan has been fulfilled and now his mother has interest in the message that changed her son’s life. It was the message. I will never forget her eyes as she said these words to me. Never.
We shared this experience with 52 year old Sister Yan who has the same sort of opposition coming from her family. She needs some support from her husband. We bore testimony to her that as she changed her actions, her husband’s heart will also be opened. She has one trial, and its to keep the Sabbath day holy. She has a hard time coming to church because she has to drive her taxi and her husband wants her home sooner, but she has committed to keep it holy now. She was touched by Ryan’s story. The family will come along. In the mean time, her baptismal interview is next Tuesday night. It’s so interesting to see how Heavenly Father gave us this experience with Ryan so we could share it with Sister Yan. Oh, and the Li family as well, their son is 13, golden, and wants to be baptized. We are good friends with their family, but Jason will also have to go through the same type of experience.
Miracles, miracles, miracles. I also have about 17 more to share that are almost as cool as that but we'll see what time allows, hahaha ,seriously there are about 17.
Sunday night, we set up a lesson with a BEAUTIFUL FAMILY with 2 young boys that can be future missionaries some day. They live in the mountains of San Xia so it was kind of a special lesson and a little hard, to find members that are willing to go so far to attend the lesson, but we had it set up. We planned to meet with the Xu family who have two sons about the same age as the investigators that we planned to visit, so we got there and rang the doorbell. No answer. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! We were fang'ed (stood up). Oh man, I felt bad for our pei ke's, but we weren't going to put them to waste so we took them to go proselyting with us.
After knocking one door, the neighbors, we got a set up and a referral to some inactive members that we were unaware of that lived up on floor seven. Wow, so we went up to floor seven with the Xu family. We took the stairs because the elevator beeped when my companion stepped in and as we got up there we found a door with a sticker on the front of it that said, "Nothing can compensate for failure in the home." It was a lost sheep, part member family! And, they were good friends with the members we had brought with us! They were an AWESOME FAMILY. And it turns out that they are friends with the people we had initially set up with for that night. In fact the Xu family was as well, but we didn't know all this. They know each other because all of their kids are classmates! Whoa! It was insane. Miracle after miracle. We shared an awesome lesson about prayer and the restored gospel, which Elder Daniels throws in EVERY lesson, because he learned his lesson 3 zone conferences ago! Anyway, the outcome of the lesson was amazing. They all want and committed to come back to church, and the dad might even come as well, and he isn't even a member! They also want to invite the family that we had initially set up to meet with who ended up only forgetting that we had an appointment!!! Heavenly father gave us a big miracle that night!!!!
Oh man, my time is almost gone. The inactive Luo family came to church last week and loved it! We had a couple family nights with them. Brother Zhuang , a man who is inactive and desires his family to be members of the church, came out with his true concerns. We are now teaching him how to use sincere prayer to find an answer. He actually listens now. We became pretty familiar with the top of his head a couple months ago as we first found him and realized he had no interest, but after we gave him some time and were more attentive to his concerns, he opened up a lot more, and actually desires us to come back now.
I have learned SO much recently that I cannot describe the amount of things I have learned…numbers aren't big enough. And I think I can attribute most of it to the things Heavenly Father has taught me and Elder Read as a companionship.
I love this gospel. There is so much to learn, all I have to say is, we make mistakes, we learn. We fall down 7 times we get up 8.

Preach My Gospel works!
What a week. Well, time is short today so let’s get started. I will start with planning: I owe all of the success and miracles we have seen this week to successful planning at night time. Planning has changed my mission. I have a better relationship with the ward members. We have been able to find members to attend every single lesson that we teach. We are supposed to do that to begin with, but who actually does what “Preach My Gospel” says to do the first time they read it, haha. So, yeah, “Preach My Gospel” teaches us to have a member at every lesson. And Heavenly Father has answered our prayers in helping us find good friends and make a strong relationship with members of the ward. It used to be that if we were meeting with an investigator for the first time, we would be afraid to find a member to attend the lesson in case of a possible "no show." But the Lord has answered our prayers and helped us make strong enough member friends to overcome any obstacle a now show might bring. Last week we had 8 pei ke's (discussions?) and we had 7 the week before. That is huge and that’s all I have to say the amount of lessons taught. We have been focusing on better quality lessons rather than focusing on the quantity of lessons we teach. We have seen a lot of blessing come from it. We've even been having members attend the lessons with less- actives, which doesn't count as a number, but it is EXTREMELY nice! We are finally learning how to do missionary work and find new investigators through the ward rather than relying on ourselves and the blessings have come through our desire, through prayer, to do the Lord’s work and not our own work.
These experiences are real. "It helps to turn on the lights when you are reading in darkness" It takes more effort, but it makes the process run so much smoother.

WOAH!!!! She's going to baptized and we hope her son, too, on the 21st of February! Teaching Sister Yan has taken Elder Daniels to his teaching LIMIT!!!!! Wow, he has learned a lot.

SHE UNDERSTOOD IT! It was so difficult, but she got it. Now she is willing to sacrifice everything to come to Church every Sunday and show her love to for the Savior Jesus Christ!
WOAH!!!! She's going to baptized and we hope her son, too, on the 21st of February! Teaching Sister Yan has taken Elder Daniels to his teaching LIMIT!!!!! Wow, he has learned a lot.
